Hello my name is Des
and I'm a freelancer in videography and website design
this is the history of
Bridge Road Media

I got into web design in 2005 purely out of necessity.
My wife had a lingerie shop in Chatham at the time and when she was approached by a web designer she thought it would be a good idea to have a website.
As I knew nothing about web design I paid out £500 for this guy to make one.
He produced a nice three page website which looked good for that time. A couple of day’s later one of the main suppliers phoned up to say they had seen the website but it had their copyrighted pictures on it.
They allowed us to use the pictures as long as we used the ones with the copyright on the bottom that they would send to us.
I went back to the web designer and told him what had happened and asked him to change the pictures. He informed me that it wasn’t his fault and it would cost another £125 to correct. Needless to say I wasn’t best pleased with that so I told him to kill the site. He looked a bit taken aback by my response but he complied. It was cheaper for me to do that than be prosecuted for copyright infringment and I wasn't going to give the web designer any more money.

As I didn't want to spend out on another web designer I taught myself how to make websites using Adobe Dreamweaver,Serif Webplus and free tutorials from WS3 Schools.
It took a while but after a few months I was making some really nice websites. From there word soon got around that I could make websites and cheaper than a lot of other places were quoting but this was only because it was a part time hobby rather than a business.
I added video production  in 2010 as there was a huge market for short video's for websites and social media. When I looked into it I found there was huge potential to using video. Not only did it make websites look a lot more interesting it could be used for marketing on social media such as facebook.

Now I offer video production, video editing and web design for small startup companies in the Medway area so that they can concentrate on their business .

I would like to give credit to Allan Shepherd in Stoke On Trent who taught me how to build desktop PC's and the difference between what I wanted and what I actually needed for my work. He has supported me since 2005 and still supports me remotely to this day. Without Allans support I doubt that I would have been as sucessful as I am.
